About Me
Rachel Gray Psychotherapy
I offer a professional, yet warm and caring space for my clients to come and explore the difficulties they are facing. I believe you as the client hold your own answers, and my role is to support you to explore current or historical issues that you wish to talk about and work through with me. I will invite you on a journey of self-exploration, and this at times, can feel challenging. However, I will be alongside you on your journey, supporting you to make any changes you feel may help you to get past what you are struggling with.
Working as a counsellor and therapist is a great honour, and something I feel very passionate about. I often work in a more creative way with children and younger clients as this can feel less daunting. As a mum of 4 teenagers, I understand how hard navigating family life can be when someone is struggling. Social media, bullying, body image, sexuality, anxiety, depression and loneliness are only a few of the difficulties that young people often wish to come and process.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for over 20 years alongside adults and children who were experiencing difficulties in their lives. I am trained to offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults, children, and young people, drawing from psychodynamic/analytic theory, whilst offering the core conditions of person-centred theory, empathy, genuineness, and a non-judgemental attitude.
I have a BSC in Psychology and I have gained counselling qualifications from Edinburgh University, Human Development Scotland (formally The Scottish Institute of Human Relations), and Interface Scotland. I attend regular courses, seminars and weekend conferences to ensure my knowledge of a wide range of therapy related topics are as advanced and up to date as possible.
I offer both short, and long-term therapy for children and adults and your needs can be discussed at your initial session.
